Coilie LLC — Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 16, 2026

1. Who we are

Coilie LLC ("Coilie," "we," "us," "our") is a consumer hardware brand based in Florida, USA. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit coilie.com, sign up for communications, place an order or preorder, or otherwise interact with us, and how we use that information.

Our store is powered by Shopify, which helps us process orders, payments, and related services. This Privacy Policy governs how we handle your personal information; where Shopify acts as an independent controller of your data (described in Section 10), its own privacy policy also applies.

For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact us at hello@coilie.com.

2. What we collect

Depending on how you interact with us — browsing, joining our email list, placing an order or preorder, or otherwise interact with us — we may collect:

  • Contact details: name, email address, billing and shipping address, phone number.

  • Waitlist information: email address and optional persona answers you choose to share (e.g. "for myself," "for my family").

  • Order and payment information: items purchased or preordered, payment card or financial account information, transaction and confirmation details, order history, returns, exchanges, and cancellations. Payment card details are processed by Shopify and its payment processors — we do not store full card numbers ourselves.

  • Account information: account credentials

  • and preferences, if you create an account.

  • Communications: information you share when you contact customer support or otherwise message us.

  • Technical and device data: IP address, browser/user agent, referrer, and approximate page interactions, used for security and to improve the site.

  • Cookies and identifiers: small files and device identifiers used for the purposes in Section 6.

  • Advertising and measurement data: cookie IDs, ad views, clicks, and conversions reported by ad platforms.

  • Inferences: simple inferences drawn from the above (e.g. which product page you viewed, or your order history) used to tailor what we show you.

3. How we use it

We use your information to:

  • Process preorders and orders, take payment, and (closer to our ship date) arrange fulfillment and shipping.

  • Send order confirmations, shipping and fulfillment updates, and respond to customer support requests.

  • Create and manage your account, if you have one.

  • Send launch updates, early-access offers, and occasional product news.

  • Measure how visitors use the site and which channels are working.

  • Measure the effectiveness of our website and marketing and, where permitted, personalize advertising.

  • Authenticate accounts, provide a secure checkout experience, and detect or prevent fraud and abuse.

  • Comply with legal obligations, including tax, accounting, and consumer-protection requirements tied to processing payments.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

4. Preorders specifically

When you place a preorder, we collect and process your payment and order information at the time of purchase, not at the time of shipping. Initial preorder fulfillment is currently estimated to begin in February 2027. This date is an estimate and may change. If there is a material change to our anticipated fulfillment timeline, we'll notify affected customers using the email address associated with their order.

Cancellation, refund, and delay rights for preorders are set out in our Terms of Service / preorder policy at checkout, which should be read together with this Privacy Policy.

5. Advertising and measurement

We may use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies provided by advertising and analytics partners to understand how visitors interact with our website, measure the effectiveness of our marketing, and, where permitted, show advertising that may be more relevant to you.

These technologies may collect information such as device identifiers, browser information, pages viewed, interactions with our website, and information about how you arrived at our website.

Where required by applicable law, we obtain your consent before using non-essential advertising or analytics technologies. You can manage your preferences through the privacy or cookie settings available on our website.

Under certain U.S. state privacy laws, some advertising activities may be considered a “sale,” “sharing,” or use of personal information for targeted advertising, even when we do not sell personal information for money. Where applicable, you may opt out using the privacy controls available on our website or by contacting us at hello@coilie.com.

6. Legal bases (EU/UK)

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR/UK GDPR:

  • Contract: to process your order, take payment, and arrange fulfillment.

  • Consent: marketing emails, advertising and analytics cookies/pixels, and email-list uploads to ad platforms.

  • Legitimate interests: site security, fraud prevention, basic operations, and aggregated, privacy-preserving analytics.

  • Legal obligation: where we must process data to comply with the law, including tax and accounting rules.

You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies in three categories:

  • Strictly necessary: required for the site and checkout to work, and to remember your privacy choices.

  • Analytics: help us understand how the site is used.

  • Advertising: enable ad measurement, retargeting, and (if used) audience matching

You can change your choices at any time via Cookie Settings. Where required by law, we will not load non-essential cookies until you opt in. Where technically supported, we honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out of advertising "sharing." We do not currently respond to other "Do Not Track" browser signals.

8. Email and unsubscribing

Every marketing email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also email hello@coilie.com and we'll remove you from our marketing list within 7 days. If you've placed a preorder, we may still send non-promotional emails about your order, such as confirmations and shipping updates.

9. Your privacy choices and rights

Regardless of where you live, you can:

  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails.

  • Open Cookie Settings to manage analytics and advertising cookies.

  • Use Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information to opt out of cross-context behavioral advertising.

  • Email us at hello@coilie.com to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you.

EU/UK/Swiss residents also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, and other US state residents have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of "sale"/"share" and targeted advertising. We do not knowingly process sensitive personal information for purposes that require an opt-out, and we do not use personal information for automated decision-making with legal effects.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our response email. In accordance with applicable law, you may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf; we may still need to verify your identity directly with you.

10. Recipients, service providers, and Shopify

We share personal information only with vendors that help us operate the site, process orders, and run our waitlist, including:

  • Shopify, which hosts our store and processes orders and payments.

  • Payment processors integrated with Shopify.

  • Hosting, database, and infrastructure providers.

  • Email and communications providers.

  • Analytics providers.

  • Shipping and fulfillment partners, once orders are ready to ship.

  • Advertising platforms (Meta, TikTok, Google), where you have consented or where permitted by law.

These providers process information according to their respective roles, agreements with us, and applicable privacy laws. Some providers may act as independent controllers for certain processing activities, as described below for Shopify.

Shopify also processes personal information about your access to and use of our store in order to provide and improve the Shopify platform itself, including through Shopify's enhanced features that draw on data from interactions across Shopify merchants generally. For those purposes, Shopify acts as an independent controller of your data. You can learn more, and exercise certain rights directly with Shopify, through the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and Shopify's privacy portal.

11. Third-party websites and links

Our site may link to websites or platforms operated by third parties. We aren't responsible for the privacy or security practices of sites we don't control, and we encourage you to review their policies before providing information to them.

12. International data transfers

Coilie is based in the United States, and some of our service providers process information in the United States and other countries. If you access our website from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. Where required by applicable law, appropriate safeguards are used for international transfers of personal information.

13. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to fulfill orders, maintain appropriate business and transaction records, comply with tax, accounting, legal, and regulatory obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce our agreements.

Retention periods vary depending on the type of information, why we collected it, and applicable legal requirements. We may retain certain transaction and business records for several years where required or appropriate.

14. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including access controls and reputable infrastructure and payment providers. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

15. Children

Our website and store are intended for adults and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

16. Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves, including as we move from preorders into shipping. Material changes will be announced on this page with a new "last updated" date.
